Hormonal balance plays a crucial role in a woman’s overall well-being. While there are various factors that can influence hormones, incorporating simple, free habits into your daily routine can potentially have a positive impact. In this article, we will explore four free ways to support hormonal balance in women.
1. Prioritize Quality Sleep:
Getting enough sleep is essential for hormone regulation. Aim for 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night. This allows your body to rest and repair, supporting optimal hormone production. Establishing a consistent sleep schedule and creating a relaxing bedtime routine can promote better sleep quality. Things I’ve incorporated into mybedtime routine that help me wind down are a few minutes of “legs up the wall” meditation, dry brushing for lymphatic drainage, and an L-Theanine supplement.
2. Manage Stress:
Chronic stress can disrupt hormone levels. Engaging in stress-reducing activities like meditation, deep breathing exercises, or spending time in nature can help manage stress levels. These practices activate the relaxation response, reducing cortisol (the stress hormone) and promoting hormonal balance. Some hormone healthy stress reducing techniques I love are grounding. A few minutes stroll barefoot in the grass or sitting under your favorite tree is proven to lower cortisol. I also enjoy lavender essential oils in my diffuser. A few deep breaths will have you feeling more calm in seconds. I always keep a tin of Bach Rescue Pastilles with me. Each pastille is loaded with homeopathic stress relieving herbs that help me in stressful situations.
3. Regular Exercise:
Regular physical activity is not only beneficial for overall health but can also support hormone balance. Aim for at least 20 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per day. Exercise promotes the release of endorphins, which can help reduce stress and support hormonal equilibrium. I’m big on walking, as well as other low intensity exercises like pilates, and stretching. As a hairstylist, footwear is important to be able to maintain longer distance walks. New Balance Fresh Foam is my go to sneaker for work and weekend outings. As an ADD girlie, I also find that utilizing an activity tracker and keeping a journal of my of daily goals helps me visualize them and stay consistent.
4. Stay Hydrated:
I know, I know. We’ve heard it 100 times. But drinking enough water is crucial for hormone regulation. Dehydration can lead to hormonal imbalances, affecting various bodily functions. Aim to drink at least 8 cups (64 ounces) of water per day. I never leave home without my Takeya water bottle. It keeps my water cold and helps me stay hydrated on the go. You can also include herbal teas or fruit infused water for added hydration benefits. I love adding Nectar electrolytes to my water. The ingredients list is clean and short, just what I want when I’m looking out for my hormone health.
Supporting hormonal balance doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. By incorporating these four free habits into your daily routine, you can potentially have a positive impact on your hormonal health. Prioritize quality sleep, manage stress effectively, engage in regular exercise, and stay hydrated. Remember, it’s always important to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice and guidance.
